Category: Fundamentals Thyroid storm is a rare, life-threatening form of severe thyrotoxicosis. It is an acute reaction to thyroid or non-thyroid surgery, trauma, infection, iodine load (contrast media or amiodarone) or parturition in patients with preexisting hyperthyroidism.
