Category: Critical Care Nursing Pulmonary edema is a progression of heart failure. It may occur when pressure in the pulmonary vasculature exceeds 10 to 25 mm Hg. This results in extravasation of fluids from pulmonary capillaries into interstitial tissue and intra-alveolar spaces.
